SOCIAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT
FORUM for Social Planners
The Department of Infrastructure
and Planning (DIP) have been developing up some Social Impact
Assessment (SIA) and Social Impact Management Plan (SIMP)
Guidelines. The guidelines are to assist the community and
proponents in the undertaking of Social Impact Assessment
that are triggered as a part of an Environmental Impact Assessment
process.
The state will be releasing these guidelines in draft very
soon for comment. This will be followed by a number of regional
consultations held across the state. We will be sure to let
you know these dates as soon as they come to us here at LGAQ.
In the mean time the first forum has been announced by PIA
for social planners and they want to get the word out there...
The shape and nature of Social Planning in Queensland is rapidly
changing! New legislation, new ways of working and new ideas
are all around us. As social planning and social impact assessment
practitioners it is important to keep pace with these changes
through training, networking and education.
Come along to the 2010 Social Impact Assessment (SIA) Forum
and learn about the changes happening in your sector. Hear
from Department of Infrastructure and Planning Representatives
about legislative changes and take the opportunity to learn
about and give feedback on the Social Impact Management Plan
(SIMP) guideline and template being prepared by the Social
Impact Assessment Unit of the Department of Infrastructure
and Planning in consultation with the Queensland Resources
Council and the Local Government Association of Queensland.
